About Zhuo'er Mountain
The People's Daily Overseas Edition describes Zhuo'er Mountain as a spur of the Qilian range with a highest peak of 4,328 m, composed mainly of red sandstone and conglomerate. The Qinghai provincial government portal's account of the same mountain places the scenic area's construction site in Babao town, Qilian County, close to the Babao River and facing the sacred Ami Dongsuo (阿咪东索), also called Niuxin Shan (牛心山), across the water. Both describe the same frame around the summit: the much higher Niuxin Shan opposite, the Ladong gorge (拉洞峡) and Baiyanggou scenic area (白杨沟风景区) to left and right, the Qilian range behind, and the Babao River running along the foot of the mountain.
Inside the scenic area, the People's Daily Overseas Edition describes a gate halfway up the mountain and two-way visitor boardwalks built along the winding slope, with pavilions spaced at intervals for resting and photography, and calls the summit the best viewpoint because it is open and unobstructed. The provincial portal's account names a beacon tower (烽火台) as a place to stand and look out over Qilian, notes large rape fields and green highland barley on the lower slopes, and reports the Tibetan legend that makes Zongmu Mayouma a dragon-realm princess and Ami Dongsuo, guardian deity of the Qilian Mountains, her partner. Neither cited page gives the mountain a designation, an operating body or a statement about its present opening.
