About Qi Culture Museum

The museum combines collecting, display, conservation, research, education and leisure. Its galleries fall into four parts: permanent display halls, special-feature halls, thematic halls and a temporary hall. The permanent display takes the eight hundred years of the Qi capital as its frame and runs through sections on pre-Qi civilisation, Qi under the Western Zhou, Qi in the Spring and Autumn period, Qi in the Warring States period, Qi customs under the Qin and Han, the Jixia Academy and the later legacy of Qi. A landscape model combined with projection is used to show the old city of Linzi, and the bronze xizun, rated a national treasure, is among the pieces on show.

Alongside the archaeology, the museum works on the intangible heritage and local customs of the Qi region and presents Linzi District's own development. The Zibo municipal civilization office describes the site as bringing together the Qi Culture Museum complex, a football museum and the Qidu cultural city, and among the objects it highlights are a Han-dynasty belt hook, a large Western Zhou bronze basin, a Warring States sword of the King of Yan, a Northern Song mirror decorated with a cuju football scene and the certificate recognising the place as the birthplace of world football.
