About Longtan River Gorge
The Dazhou municipal government records the resort as covering 45 square kilometres, 53.5 kilometres from the Wanyuan urban area and about 1.5 hours from Dazhou by road; Wanyuan's own tourism bureau gives the scenic area's extent as 45.6 square kilometres. Both sources attribute to the site the reputations 'Daba Shan's premier rafting run' and 'the ten-li gallery', and both name Liangshanmen ('two-leaf door'), Yinyang Quan ('yin-yang spring') and Lengre He ('cold-hot river') among its geological features; the Wanyuan bureau adds karst caves and describes the river as running clear along a winding course lined with willows and water bamboo.
The Dazhou government's listing describes the resort as built around a gorge axis and river, and as the only resort area in eastern Sichuan built around a gorge and mountain watercourse in this way.
