About Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park
Lintianshan Forestry Culture Park (林田山林业文化园区) preserves a former logging settlement in Fenglin Township. Known historically as Morisaka and later Senrong, it developed around the forestry industry from the Japanese period. At its busy mid-twentieth-century peak, the settlement was nicknamed Little Shanghai, reflecting the activity generated by its working population.
The surviving landscape includes Japanese-style cypress buildings, Zhongshan Hall and displays of forestry tools and firefighting equipment. These different elements explain more than timber production alone. A hall, houses and shared facilities reveal the everyday life that supported work in the surrounding mountains, while tools make the scale of the industry tangible.
As logging declined, the settlement lost much of its former bustle, but the retained buildings and objects became a record of that transformation. Walk through it as an industrial community rather than an invented old town. Comparing the communal spaces with the work-related exhibits helps connect the people, the forests and the infrastructure that brought them together.
