About Liushishi Mountain Daylily Fields
Liushishi Mountain (六十石山) is a cultivated upland landscape east of Zhutian village in Fuli Township, on the western side of the Coastal Range. Its slopes are one of eastern Taiwan's major daylily-growing areas. The familiar orange-and-gold hillside view comes from flowering crops, making this an agricultural landscape as well as a mountain viewpoint.
The tourism authority places the fields at roughly 800 metres above sea level and identifies August and September as the usual flower-viewing period. Actual flowering varies with the crop and season. Outside that period, the same rolling fields, scattered farm buildings and pavilions still reveal how cultivation follows the mountain contours.
The approach climbs away from the valley, and elevated viewpoints look across a patchwork of fields towards the wider mountain landscape. Take time to compare a broad panorama with the individual planted slopes. Farm access and designated viewing areas matter here: a field preserved for flowers remains someone's working land, even when it is also a popular photographic subject.
