About Xiuguluan River Guided Rafting
The Xiuguluan River (秀姑峦溪) crosses eastern Taiwan's mountain landscape from the Central Range through the Coastal Range to the Pacific. Its long history of erosion has produced gorges, bends and river terraces. Guided rafting from the Ruisui area offers a water-level perspective on this terrain, distinct from viewing the river from a road bridge.
The visitor centre beside Ruisui Bridge is associated with the rafting departure area. Along the river, sedimentary rock exposures and pale boulder groups help explain the scenery beyond the rapids. The tourism authority describes the bright, patterned stones using the traditional landscape name Xiugu Shuyu, referring to their jade-like appearance.
A river trip is an organised outdoor activity, with the route and operating decision dependent on conditions. Confirm a licensed provider, its safety briefing, participant requirements and the transfer at the end. Plan time to understand the river corridor as well as to paddle: its winding route through the coastal mountains is the distinctive feature that makes this more than a generic rafting stop.
