About Yehliu Geopark

Yehliu Geopark occupies a narrow cape in Wanli, where weathering and marine erosion have carved an unusually varied coastal rock landscape. Mushroom rocks, candle-shaped formations and wave-cut surfaces reward close observation of shape and texture as well as the familiar skyline photographs.

The Queen's Head is the best-known natural formation, but the cape contains several different groups of rocks. Comparing their narrow necks, rounded caps and surrounding surfaces gives the visit more substance than simply queuing for a single viewpoint.

The park also displays replicas of famous formations. Read the labels so that a replica near the entrance is not confused with the fragile natural rock farther out on the cape. Treat the marked visitor paths and barriers as part of protecting the landscape.

What to look for

  • Mushroom and candle-shaped rocks formed by coastal processes.
  • The natural Queen's Head and clearly identified replicas.
  • Wave-cut platforms and changing views along the cape.
