About Sejila Mountain Official Viewpoint
The Culture and Tourism Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region describes the mountain as cloud-wrapped year-round, with highland rhododendrons flowering across it, and names 色季拉山口 as a place from which Namcha Barwa can be seen at a distance and as an excellent photographic point for the peak. A 2023 picture report by China News Service, carried by People's Daily Online's Tibet channel, adds that the Sichuan–Tibet highway winds through the mountain and that cloud seas and forest seas can be seen from the pass, and reports that the Sejila Mountain viewing platform (色季拉山观景台) is one of the best viewpoints for Namcha Barwa; that evaluation is the news agency's, not this record's.
The mountain is a national forest park. The Tibet Autonomous Region's thirteenth five-year forestry development plan lists 色季拉 among the region's national forest parks whose natural forest resources are to be protected, alongside 巴松错, 比日神山 and 热振, and among nine national forest parks to receive forest-form improvement and vegetation-restoration works; it also records that capacity-building at national forest parks including Sejila and Bason Co was strengthened during the twelfth five-year-plan period.
The flowering is staged by altitude. The Nyingchi City tourism bureau's account says the rhododendrons on Sejila Mountain open successively from the foot of the mountain to the summit, and especially from May, when the slopes and the roadsides are bright with them; the same account puts Nyingchi's rhododendron flowering as a whole between mid-April and the end of June, following altitude from low to high. No cited source gives the mountain's elevation or its area, and none names any viewpoint on it other than the pass and the viewing platform; the catalogue's 色季拉山正规观景点 is an editorial label that no cited page prints.
