About Nujiang Grand Canyon Liuku to Laomudeng Route
The full Beautiful Highway runs from Liuku in Lushui to Bingzhongluo in Gongshan County, winding through the canyon and connecting nearby tourism sites and villages; a 'greenway' slow-travel path forms part of the route, running alongside or separate from the road and linking to national trails. On the Liuku-to-Laomudeng stretch, the Xiaoshaba service area, 4.3 kilometres north of Lushui, is the first stop entering the canyon; it is built into the terrain following a 'negative architecture' design, with a rooftop garden and a riverside walkway.
Further north along this stretch lies Laomudeng village, described in this coverage as 'China's most beautiful village', known for its pastoral scenery and multi-ethnic community, and above it the settlement of Zhizhiluo, which has preserved the appearance of the 1970s-80s.
