About Guodong Village
Two springs feed Longxi, which runs through the village between Longshan and Hushan. Surviving Ming and Qing buildings follow a clan-based arrangement centred on an ancestral hall and four halls. Huilong Bridge, walls and planted trees form the shuikou, the carefully composed entrance landscape around the water.
Local fengshui beliefs associated this setting with the well-being of the clan. The woods on Longshan were also protected by clan rules, helping explain why mature trees remain such a prominent part of the village landscape.
