About Wuma Street and Shuomen Ancient Port Area
The Wuma commercial district links Chan Street, Wuma Street and Gongyuan Road. Its Five Horses sculpture and mix of Chinese and Western architectural forms place the emphasis on streets, shops and city life.
At Shuomen, excavated wharves, embankments, city gates and ships reveal how the port operated, particularly during the Song and Yuan periods. Longquan ceramics connect it to overseas trade. Selected wharves, embankments and layers of the site are presented in a protective display hall; fragile remains and areas reserved for further archaeology are protected separately.
