About Mount Cangshan
Formerly called Yushan, the mountain takes its present name from the legend of Cheng Ying concealing the child here after the destruction of the Zhao family. The story connects the landscape with loyalty and sacrifice; it is presented as local tradition, rather than proof that the historical episode occurred at this precise site.
Shrines and halls stand against steep rock faces between opposing peaks. Wenzi Shrine honours Zhao Wu, while Baoen Shrine commemorates figures associated with his rescue. Canggu Cave is a natural recess on the western hillside identified with the hiding story. Near the entrance, the twisting Dragon and Phoenix pines provide another named landmark.
