About Huangyadong Scenic Area
The arsenal was established in 1939 in the Shuiyao mountain area, west of Shangchiyu village. It was also known as the Shuiyao Arsenal, with an armoury in a cave in the cliffs. In November 1941, Japanese forces attacked the site, leading to an eight-day battle.
The memorial landscape brings together the former factory, battlefield and martyrs' cemetery. Conservation work in 1985 restored several industrial buildings, including the machinery workshop, boiler room, library and equipment workshop. These give the visit a concrete focus on wartime production and the terrain around it, alongside the commemorative spaces.
