About Jishan Qinglong Temple
The middle hall's paintings belong to the water-and-land ritual tradition, which brings a wide range of divine figures into a shared religious setting. Its east wall includes the group known as 王仙圣母众图 and is especially rich in Daoist immortals. Flowing garments and coordinated colours are notable features of these figures.
The painted ensemble was made in stages. The murals are predominantly Yuan work, with additions during the early Ming Hongwu period. The combination of surviving architecture and paintings gives the temple a layered history, rather than the appearance of a single decorative campaign.
