About Jiaoxi Hot Springs
Jiaoxi Hot Springs (礁溪温泉) form a spa town on the northern Lanyang Plain, with public spring spaces and bathing hotels near the railway station. Unlike an isolated mountain bath, Jiaoxi combines its geothermal resource with ordinary town streets, restaurants and transport. The old name Tangwei preserves the settlement's longstanding association with hot water.
The Tourism Administration describes a bathing industry established during the Japanese period and a landscape of hotels that has continued to evolve. Spring squares and parks give visitors a public introduction to the town, while individual businesses offer different pools and private bathing rooms. A park footbath and a hotel bath are separate facilities, with separate rules.
