About Nanfangao Fishing Harbour
Nanfangao Fishing Harbour (南方澳渔港) is a working port in Su'ao, where enclosed harbour basins sit beneath steep coastal hills. Moored fishing boats, waterfront streets and temples make the fishing settlement visible at close range. From above, the shape of the harbour and its position beside the Pacific become much clearer.
The Nanfangao viewpoint stands on the hillside along the Suhua road corridor. Its panorama takes in the harbour, the surrounding ridges and the Dofu Cape coast. This elevated perspective explains the geography of the port, while a walk around the town reveals the boats and shore-based life within it.
The visitor centre near Jin'an Temple introduces local fishing culture, coastal ecology and the Su'ao area. Nantian Temple is another landmark associated with the harbour community and Mazu worship. Combine a town walk with a suitable viewpoint for two complementary experiences, while leaving working quays and fishing operations clear for the people using them.
