About Su’ao Cold Springs
Su'ao Cold Springs (苏澳冷泉) are a low-temperature mineral spring in the centre of Su'ao, a short walk from the railway station. The water is known for dissolved carbon dioxide and a temperature of about 21°C in the tourism authority's description. Its defining sensation is cool, bubbling water, distinct from the hot-spring experience associated with nearby Jiaoxi.
The spring park developed around this local groundwater resource. Carbon dioxide can appear as small bubbles on the body during bathing, making the water's chemistry perceptible without specialist equipment. The relationship between rainfall, local rock and the spring is as much a part of the site's character as the bathing facilities.
The tourism authority also connects the water with Su'ao's historical soda production and yokan-style confectionery. These are local industrial and food associations, not health claims about bathing or drinking spring water. Treat the cold spring as its own town attraction and select the currently operating public or private facility before arriving.
