About Duoqing Lake and Chomolhari Viewing Area

Duoqing Lake and Chomolhari Viewing Area is Duoqing Co (Dochen Tso) National Wetland Park, on the border of Yadong and Kangma counties, Tibet, from which Zhuomula (Chomolhari) Snow Mountain — also called 'Goddess Peak' — is viewed across the wetland.

Duoqing Co National Wetland Park sits on the border of Yadong and Kangma counties in a cold-plateau, semi-arid climate zone. Wetland covers 80.1 percent of the park's area and is mostly natural wetland, dominated by marsh/marsh-meadow and lake wetland; Duoqing Co lake itself is fed by rainfall and snowmelt, and the Duina marsh wetland within the park is stated to have formed more than 10,000 years ago. The park has recorded 101 wild vertebrate species across 19 orders and 42 families — 12.7 percent of Tibet's known vertebrate total — including 5 nationally protected Class I species, 15 Class II species and 24 provincially protected species. Zhuomula Snow Mountain, in Pari town, Yadong County, is also called 'Goddess Peak'; visitors photograph it from within the wetland park, its summit rising above the surrounding grassland and lake.
