About Lufeng World Dinosaur Valley
According to the Lufeng municipal government's own profile, the tourism area opened on 2008-04-18 after about two years of planning from 2006, and had received 13.47 million domestic and international visitors over its first thirteen years as of the source's 2023 publication. It received National Science Popularisation Education Base and national AAAA-grade tourist-attraction status in 2009. The area is organised as 'one core, three zones': a dinosaur-culture science-display zone centred on the Grand Relics Site, a dinosaur amusement-park zone, and a dinosaur-resort zone, covering over 1,900 mu with a total investment of 2.1 billion yuan.
The Grand Relics Site's exhibition hall, built over the in-situ fossil bed, set a Guinness World Record and is described by the municipal government as housing the world's largest mounted dinosaur-fossil-specimen display hall and the largest indoor dinosaur-fossil protection site; the Lufeng municipal government frames the display around five described unsolved questions: 'mass extinction', 'heads facing east', 'dragons without eggs', 'across time and space', and 'dense dinosaur concentration'. The site, in Ena village, was rated a 4A scenic area in 2009, and is registered as a provincial-level cultural-relic protection unit under the name 'Ena Dinosaur Fossil Site (Grand Relics Site)'.
