About Chuanyan Nineteen Peaks
The peaks occupy a Cretaceous basin and are arranged in a long, uneven row. Water, gravity and biological weathering worked along vertical joints in the rock, progressively dividing a larger mass into the present forms. Xianglu, Ma'an and Qipan are among the named peaks, while openings through summit rock add another distinctive feature to the skyline.
An elevated walkway offers views across the peak group and down into a landscape of streams, waterfalls, pools and caves. The different heights and outlines of the summits are particularly clear when seen together from the elevated route.
What to look for
- The linear group of Danxia summits, separate above but connected at their bases.
- Openings through the summit rock.
- Xianglu, Ma'an and Qipan peaks and the valley scenery below the elevated walkway.
