About Songyang Ancient Village Cluster
Chenjiapu, in Sidu Township northeast of the county seat, sits against a cliff with hills on three sides and a deep valley in front. Its former village assembly hall became the two-storey Pioneer Bookshop, opened in 2018, with a terrace facing the mountain landscape. The conversion is one example of how the village has brought new uses into existing buildings.
Yangjiatang lies in the separate township of Sandu. Houses rise in steps along the slope, their earth walls and horsehead gables creating a layered village profile. A conservation programme begun in 2014 repaired old dwellings while retaining this arrangement. These two settlements belong to Songyang's wider village network and are distinct destinations within it.
