Fengqiu Rolled Pork and Egg Loaf 封丘卷尖
Fengqiu Rolled Pork and Egg Loaf is featured among the local specialties of Henan.

Fengqiu Rolled Pork and Egg Loaf (封丘卷尖) is a steamed roll of seasoned pork, egg and starch made in Fengqiu (封丘) county, Henan, and described by China News Service as one of the most common meat dishes at traditional Henan banquets.
How it is made
Fengqiu Rolled Pork and Egg Loaf is made from pork, egg, starch and a range of seasonings. Photographs taken in a Fengqiu workshop on 21 January 2022 show the stages: workers make egg sheets, make the rolls, load the rolls into steaming cabinets and pack them once they are done.
The name describes the shape. As the roll is made it is thick in the middle and pointed at both ends, so it is called juanjian (卷尖), "rolled point".
Flavour and texture
China News Service describes the flavour as fragrant, clean and refreshing, and the meat as rich without being greasy.
Where it comes from
Production in Fengqiu peaks in the run-up to Spring Festival, when households are laying in food for the new year, and in the twelfth lunar month some workshops sell large quantities every day. Online sales now carry Fengqiu juanjian to buyers across China, and the trade gives many local farmers work close to home.
