Jinshan Braised Duck (金山鸭肉) is the duck served on Jinshan Old Street (金山老街), also called Jinbaoli Old Street (金包里老街), in Jinshan District (金山区) on New Taipei's north coast. Chinese Wikipedia names the "Jinbaoli" duck as the street's best-known food, and the North Coast and Guanyinshan National Scenic Area (北海岸及观音山国家风景区) administration calls the old street's duck shop almost a byword for Jinshan food.

How it is eaten

The most popular duck stall stands in front of Guang'an Temple (广安宫), a temple to Kaizhang Shengwang (开漳圣王) in the middle of the old street. New Taipei City's tourism department describes its self-service way of serving as a local sight in itself. The scenic-area administration explains how it works, with diners taking the dishes they want themselves and then finding a seat, and notes that the business is now run by its second generation. On its Jinshan District page the administration says crowds of diners come from afar on holidays for the duck's fresh, sweet taste.

Where it comes from

The street is described by New Taipei City's tourism department as the only Qing-dynasty street left on the north coast, more than three hundred years old, and once the main market where Jinbaoli residents traded farm produce and fish. The New Taipei City government lists Jinbaoli duck alongside crab porridge and candied sweet potato among the old street's foods.
