About Silk Town Digang Ancient Village

The covered Lixiangdai and Waixiangdai lanes retain the close relationship between shops, homes and canals, while Xiushui Bridge adds carved stone details to the waterside scene. Nantiao Shengjing preserves another layer of village life around scholarly and religious buildings, including Jichuan school. Follow public covered passages and bridge approaches, reading the village as a working settlement whose trading geography remains visible.

The village retains thirty-one ancient stone bridges and fifty residences bearing tang, or hall, names. Three sites have municipal cultural-relic protection, including Zhang Hongzhao's Former Residence (章鸿钊故居), and there are four municipal protection points. San'guan Bridge (三官桥) is among the municipal protection points. Digang was formerly a township, which merged into Hefu Town (和孚镇) in 1990. It joined the second list of Chinese Traditional Villages (中国传统村落) on 26 August 2013, received Chinese Historical and Cultural Village (中国历史文化名村) designation in 2014 and became a national 4A tourist attraction (国家4A级旅游景区) in 2015.
