About Taining Shangqing Stream
Shangqing Stream is a bamboo-raft excursion through the wooded Danxia valleys of Taining. It gives visitors a low, moving viewpoint between steep banks, with a quieter and more enclosed setting than a broad lake cruise.
The visitor landscape lies around Shangqing Township and Chongji Village. From the water, the experience is a sequence of changing bends, rock faces and woodland rather than one fixed panorama. The village's agricultural setting also provides a useful pause before or after the river trip; its locally recognised fermented-soy-water tofu tradition is part of that setting. Choose the stream if time on a raft is a priority. A walking visit to Zhaixia Canyon and a cruise on Dajin Lake reveal other aspects of Taining and should have their own time in the itinerary.
