About Lujiazui Riverside Promenade
Lujiazui’s riverside promenade follows the Pudong bank of the Huangpu River within Shanghai’s financial district. It offers water-level views towards the Bund and the central riverfront, with modern towers rising behind the walkway. The visit is about the relationship between the two banks as much as any individual skyscraper.
The area around Binjiang Avenue is part of the public-facing setting of Lujiazui, with pedestrian space and riverside viewpoints. Looking across the water reveals the older architectural frontage of the Bund, while turning inland changes the scale to the district’s high-rise skyline. River traffic gives movement to a scene often encountered only in still photographs.
Choose a short waterfront section and compare views from several positions instead of standing at one popular photo point. Notice how the bend of the river changes the alignment of buildings on the opposite bank. A tower observation deck, ferry journey or river cruise is a separate experience; the promenade itself provides an accessible way to understand the urban geography from ground level.
What to look for
- Compare the Bund frontage with the Pudong skyline behind you.
