About Guiping Xishan Scenic Area
Guiping sits on the Xunyu plain in south-eastern Guangxi, where the Qianjiang, Yujiang and Xunjiang meet in the urban area and the Tropic of Cancer crosses the middle of the county-level city. The mountain also has a place in the city's administrative history: Xunzhou prefecture was set up here under the Sui and Tang with its seat at Guiping county, and in the Jiayou era of the Northern Song the prefectural seat moved from Dawoping on Xishan down to the present town, after which Guiping served in turn as the seat of Xunzhou circuit and Xunzhou prefecture under the Yuan, Ming and Qing.
The autonomous region's Radio and Television Administration records that the scenic area holds many relics and that the buildings surviving comparatively intact include the Ligong ancestral hall, the Xishi'an nunnery, the Ruquan pavilion and the Feige. The same page gives the qualities for which the mountain is known as its fine woods, its strange rocks, its sweet spring water and its tea. Guiping city records Xishan tea, which carries the mountain's name, among the first thirty-five agricultural products with geographical indications recognised by both China and the European Union. The autonomous region's culture and tourism department carried the Guiping Xishan scenic area at grade 4A in its register of A-grade scenic areas compiled to the end of 2021.

- Dawoping, the site on the mountain that held the seat of Xunzhou prefecture until the Northern Song Jiayou era
- Xishan tea, which carries the mountain name and is recognised by China and the EU as a geographical indication
