About Black-Clothed Zhuang Culture Villages
Their dress and their mountain songs have come down well preserved, and China Culture Daily reports that anthropologists have described them as a living fossil of the Zhuang. The songs have formal standing: the State Council's first national list of intangible cultural heritage, 518 items published on 20 May 2006, carries Napo Zhuang folk song as item 63, reference II-32, under the responsibility of Napo county in Guangxi. Fengliujie, a traditional Napo Zhuang festival, falls on the last market day of the third lunar month and is an occasion on which young men and women meet through singing.
The concrete places a visitor can see are several rather than one. The Guangxi Border Ethnic Museum, upgraded from the former Napo County Museum, collects, researches and displays the border ethnic cultures of Guangxi. At Zhongshan village in Pohe township, which the paper calls one of the birthplaces of Napo Zhuang folk song, the Nidiya rural complex includes a Heiyizhuang culture exhibition hall, the Zhongshan village-flavour street, Nantian cave, an orchid valley, Jielong bridge, a lotus pond, Tongge lake and the Shanniao tiankeng. At Nongdi hamlet in Longhua village a continuous group of Zhuang stilted ganlan buildings stands beside a newly completed Heiyizhuang old-stockade resort.
