About Wufeng Mountain Bamboo Sea
Dazhou's tourism bureau records the park as covering 6,700 hectares in total, with an 876-hectare core zone and elevation between 600 and 1,080 metres. It is dominated by moso bamboo and Phyllostachys bissetii, with more than 20 other bamboo varieties including mottled bamboo and fernleaf hedge bamboo, forming a bamboo-sea landscape that gives the site its other names, 'Wufeng Shan Bamboo Sea Park' and 'eastern Sichuan's little Emei'. It was approved as a national forest park by the national forestry ministry in 2002, rated a national AAA tourist area in 2006, assessed as a provincial 'natural ecological district' in 2008, named a Sichuan low-carbon ecotourism demonstration unit in 2012, and rated a national AAAA tourist area in 2016.
A newly built folk-culture museum in the hills at Wufeng Shan presents eastern Sichuan folk culture, displaying bamboo-culture items including bamboo slips, bamboo paper, bamboo musical instruments, bamboo carving and bamboo tea sets, alongside displays on Dazhu's development, notable local figures and paintings, and traditional crafts, according to a 2025 Dazhou Daily feature.
