About Zheduo Mountain Official Viewpoints

The prefecture's 2015 introduction calls Zheduoshan the first high mountain the Sichuan-Tibet highway climbs onto the plateau and gives its highest point as 4,298 metres. It belongs to the middle section of the Daxue Shan within the Hengduan ranges, as an outlier of Gongga Shan, and measures 135 kilometres north to south by 15 to 20 kilometres east to west, covering 2,362 square kilometres; the prefecture treats it as an important cultural and geographical dividing line between the eastern and western parts of Kangding.

The viewing points themselves are named in a December 2024 report by Sichuan News Network carried on the provincial culture and tourism department's site. That report identifies a viewing platform on the National Highway 318 section at Zheduoshan, where officers of the Kangding public security bureau's Zheduoshan police post guide traffic through, and a service area on the same highway standing at the Zheduoshan pass. It records that the 318 highway had been widened since December 2023 with a marked increase in carrying capacity, and quotes the head of the police post, Bao Yongpeng, on the fourteen officers stationed there. The mountain, the report says, carries snow all year and the climate on it is severe; it also passes on the epithet by which the mountain is known, the first pass of Kham.
