About Langdu Wetland Grassland

The Gansu Daily feature places Langdu Tan in Lüjing town, Minxian county, Dingxi, describing green grass, herds of cattle and sheep, horses and a winding river. It gives the grassland's average elevation as more than 2,600 m and its area as more than 900,000 mu, and describes it as the transition belt between the eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the western margin of the Qinling range, as well as the dividing ridge between Longnan and Dingxi. The terrain it calls flat and open, with a suitable temperature.

The provincial A-level register confirms the administrative detail and the rating: it lists 岷县狼渡滩草原景区 in Dingxi as a 4A-rated scenic area at Langdu village, Lüjing town, Minxian county. The register, as of 31 December 2025, records 556 A-rated scenic areas in Gansu, of which 161 are 4A.

The feature reads the grassland's position into its history. It says Langdu Tan's location made it a bright pearl on the tea-horse road, a horse-rearing ground in the Western Zhou and Qin-Han periods, and a battlefield contested several times by Wei and Shu in the Three Kingdoms, and that this position encouraged the mixing of cultures and gave the place its own character.

Of the scene itself, the feature describes the Langdu river winding across the open grassland like a dancing silver snake, with cattle and sheep grazing and layers of plants along the banks, and wildflowers of many colours scattered through the grass like stars.
