In Tibetan it is also called 觉悟夏尕, meaning “white holy guest”, and the entry records that the mountain is the home place of the Yuan-dynasty imperial preceptor Ga Anyi Danba and a place of pilgrimage for many Tibetan people. It adds that 5,470 m is not exceptional among the plateau’s high peaks, but that the mountain’s sharp, sheer form makes anyone approaching it draw back in awe.

The same entry records a tradition that 尕朵觉悟 is a wise and brave general and that its 28 surrounding peaks are his seven generals, seven physicians, seven swordsmiths and seven tailors, along with peaks for his grandmother, his children and others. It adds that relics such as the Tang–Tibet Ancient Road and a Gesar enthronement platform stand around the mountain, and that Yushu is itself Gesar’s homeland.
