About Taheman Wetland

A report by Xinjiang Daily, carried by the regional forestry and grassland department, places the wetland in Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County and describes it as known for a landform of mountains on all four sides (四面环山), for dense vegetation and for its cultural associations. The same report calls it an important ecological barrier of the Pamir plateau and the golden pasture (黄金牧场) that local herders depend on, and records the Taheman River (塔合曼河) winding through it and feeding the ground along its banks.

In the report's account the wetland's pasture is cut at the end of summer: it records more than 8,000 mu of natural pasture at the harvest, with herds grazing and herders cutting, spreading and drying the grass, and says the wetland works to hold water, regulate climate and maintain biodiversity. The report is credited to 石榴云/新疆日报 and dated 19 August 2025.

The county's 14th Five-Year Plan, published on the county government's portal, lists 塔合曼湿地 among the service areas along the G314 highway whose tourist service facilities it intended to rebuild, and names a tree-lined road at Taheman (塔合曼林荫路) and a wetland viewing platform (湿地观景台) among the works on its northern tourism route. Neither source gives the wetland an area or a boundary, and neither states whether it holds any protected status or how it is administered.
