About Zhengbin Fishing Port
Zhengbin Fishing Port is a historic harbour in Keelung, now especially recognised for the brightly painted building fronts along the waterfront. The harbour developed during the Japanese colonial period and was linked with the region's fishing and industrial transport economy.
As larger modern fishing vessels shifted activity toward Badouzi, Zhengbin acquired a stronger visitor role. The colourful facades are part of this later revitalisation, rather than evidence that the entire historic port originally had the same appearance.
The strongest view combines buildings, water, moored boats and the harbour's enclosing shape. Look at how the waterfront is used as well as at its colours. Residential and commercial premises remain separate from the public viewing areas, and a photogenic frontage is not an invitation to enter.
