About Wuling Mountain Great Rift Valley

Wuling Mountain Great Rift Valley is a forested gorge destination southeast of Fuling, near the northwestern end of the Wuling range.

The attraction combines steep rock scenery with a densely vegetated mountain environment. Moving between the upper landscape and the enclosed valley makes the scale of the landform easier to understand. The name should not be confused with Wulingyuan in Zhangjiajie, which is in another province.

The enclosed valley and the landscape above it tell different parts of the same geological story. Moving between them reveals why a map's short horizontal distance can correspond to a substantial descent or ascent. Choose the current visitor circuit with that in mind. The name Wuling here describes this Chongqing mountain setting, rather than a connection to a Zhangjiajie entrance.

What to look for

  • Steep-sided rift-valley scenery.
  • The transition between forested slopes and exposed rock.
  • Different perspectives along the authorized visitor route.
