Jinwan Seafood (金湾海鲜) is the fish and shellfish of Jinwan District (金湾区) in Zhuhai (珠海), Guangdong, which a Guangzhou Daily (广州日报) report carried by Xinhua describes as lying at the mouth of the Pearl River, warm all year and laced with waterways. It takes in farmed huangli fish (黄立鱼), the yellowfin seabream; oysters from the marine ranch off Hebao Island (荷包岛); and the catch that local boats land at Sanzao (三灶).

Ingredients

Huangli fish is the yellowfin seabream (黄鳍鲷). Guangzhou Daily, in a report carried by Xinhua's Guangdong channel, describes its flesh as fresh-tasting with a strong fish aroma. 'Jinwan Huangli Fish' (金湾黄立鱼) was registered as a national agricultural geographical indication by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2021. From 11 September 2024 the China National Intellectual Property Administration recognised and protected it as a geographical-indication product, the first in Guangdong to convert from the agricultural register to the national one.

Oysters are called a signature of Jinwan's marine fishery by Zhuhai Daily's news site (珠海网); they are farmed on floating rafts in the Hebao Island marine ranch.

Where it comes from

Sanzao town (三灶镇) in Jinwan has 69 kilometres of coastline, and many local fishermen make their living from the sea. According to Nanfang+ (南方+), residents go to the Shangbiao (上表市场) and Haicheng (海澄市场) markets for local seafood, and the fish that Sanzao's own boats bring back is sold mainly in those two markets.
