Zhengyang Three-Yellow Chicken (正阳三黄鸡) is a local chicken breed from Zhengyang County (正阳县) in Zhumadian (驻马店), Henan, and a Chinese national geographical-indication product.

Where it comes from

The Zhumadian city government, drawing on the Zhengyang county government, describes the chicken as a Zhengyang speciality whose meat is fresh and full of flavour. It has long been nicknamed "medicinal chicken" (药鸡) and called a "precious Chinese chicken breed" (中华名贵鸡种).

The same page counts it among China's rare, especially fine local chicken breeds. It carries many useful economic traits that are passed on stably from one generation to the next, and the city government calls it a valuable gene bank for breeding new Chinese chicken varieties, with real value for conservation and scientific research. The page also names it as suitable for developing improved dual-purpose birds, kept for both eggs and meat, that can be raised in mechanised cages.

It is also one of the Zhengyang brands now sold online. The Zhumadian municipal agriculture bureau lists it alongside Zhengyang peanuts (正阳花生) and Wangwuqiao vinegar (王勿桥醋) among the county's well-known e-commerce names.
