Kazuo Sheep Offal 喀左羊杂
Kazuo Sheep Offal is featured among the local specialties of Liaoning.

Kazuo Sheep Offal (喀左羊杂) is the sheep offal soup (羊杂汤) of Harqin Left Wing Mongolian Autonomous County (喀喇沁左翼蒙古族自治县), known for short as Kazuo (喀左), in Chaoyang (朝阳), Liaoning. Its making technique, listed as "Kazuo sheep offal soup making technique" (喀左羊杂汤制作技艺), is on Chaoyang's municipal list of intangible cultural heritage.
Where it comes from
The Chaoyang city government added the technique, put forward by Kazuo County, to the seventh batch of its municipal heritage list in a notice dated 14 December 2021. In 2025 the county's culture, tourism and broadcasting bureau reported that the Kazuo Damin Sheep Offal Soup restaurant (喀左大民羊杂汤馆) had applied to become a municipal heritage workshop; the bureau says the restaurant keeps the Mongolian tradition of sheep offal soup intact, using traditional methods and a secret seasoning recipe handed down in the family. The 2025 Chaoyang heritage-workshop list, issued by the city's culture and tourism bureau with two other departments, names Kazuo Damin Mutton Soup Co. (喀左大民羊汤有限责任公司) for this technique.
How it is eaten
The soup from the Damin restaurant was among the 2024 "Chaoyang famous snacks" announced by the city commerce bureau. A Xinhua feature on Kazuo, republished by the Liaoning provincial government in 2025, places sheep offal soup in a local cuisine that mixes Han, Mongol and Manchu cooking, alongside gezha (饹馇), wantuo (碗坨) and roast whole lamb. According to Liaoning Daily in 2026, the county's "Taste of Kazuo" (喀左味道) campaign helps sheep offal soup sellers and other snack makers open stalls where evening crowds gather.
