About Dadun Gorge
The county's account of its tourism work, given to a Jishishan County People's Congress inspection on 26 June 2013, treats the development of natural-scenery sites as the main task of an early stage of tourism development, and records that private investment brought a group of scenic areas of striking natural scenery and cultural depth into development, among them Dashanzhuang gorge and Dadunxia. The Dadunxia Bao'an folk-culture eco-tourism park was budgeted at 56 million yuan, of which 16 million yuan had been invested by the time of that report; a 9.2 km main route had been opened and 3.2 km of visitor footpaths laid, with parking, a man-made lake and a visitor reception centre in traditional style still under construction. Those are construction-progress figures for mid-2013, not a description of the site as it stands now.
The scenic area's own website lists a glass slide, a lilac grove and the Jichangzi and Wanjia waterfalls among its named features, and sets out a lodging model of staying inside the ravine or outside it, with hotels and guesthouses encouraged to open outside the scenic area. It also gives space to Bao'an culture, presenting the Bao'an waist knife as a traditional handicraft produced mainly in Dahejia town, Liuji township and the surrounding area of the county. Xinhua reported on 2025-12-05 that the scenic area had opened its annual ice season with icefall scenery and immersive experiences, and that the county treats it as a winter cultural-tourism calling card.
