About Baimo Cave
The formation called Peacock Welcoming Guests is one such landmark. A natural opening in the cave roof introduces daylight into a setting otherwise experienced under cave lighting. Concentrate on the scale and shape of the stone and the contrast in light; claims about therapeutic magnetism or air are not a basis for planning this visit.
Baimo Cave is a natural limestone cave in Poyue Village (坡月村), in Bama County (巴马县). The name Baimo Cave literally means 'Hundred Devils Cave', while Baimao means 'spring mouth' in the Zhuang language. One stalagmite measures 39 metres in height and 10 metres in diameter.
What to look for
- Large columns and the Peacock Welcoming Guests formation give the cave its sculptural interest.
- The Baimo natural roof opening contrasts daylight with the enclosed cave interior.
