About Zhenbao Island Wetland Birdwatching Area
A platform built for research, resource management and sightseeing provides the documented observation point. Beyond it lies a much larger reserve shaped by the Ussuri River and its tributaries, with both forest and wetland habitats.
The reserve supports Oriental storks, red-crowned cranes and white-naped cranes, as well as migrating geese and ducks. These are wild birds spread across a protected landscape. The wetland viewpoint is distinct from Zhenbao Island itself, which forms a core conservation block; a visit to the viewing area does not imply access to that island.
What to look for
- The channel-and-marsh panorama from the monitoring and viewing platform.
- The transition between wetland vegetation and woodland, with opportunities to observe wild waterbirds.
