About Jiuzhen Mountain

The scenic area sits inside Jiuzhen Mountain Forest Park and is classed by the district as a 4A national-grade scenic area and a provincial-level tourism resort. Forest cover exceeds 90 percent, with tall fir, pine and chestnut among the trees, and the Wuhan municipal government portal presents the mountain, together with Songyang Mountain, the Chenhu wetland and Caidian's lakes, as the largest ecological 'green lung' on Wuhan's outskirts.

Management has laid out the hill in themed zones rather than as a single trail: a forest adventure and training area, a display area on the local Zhiyin (bosom-friend) legend of Boya and Zhong Ziqi, a forest-crossing sports area, a forest-bathing leisure area, an ecological sightseeing area and a youth science-education area. The district promotes seasonal routes built around spring outings, summer lotus, autumn climbs and winter snow.

What to look for

• The 276-metre main peak, promoted as the highest point of the Jianghan Plain.
• Mature woodland of fir, pine and chestnut within a forest park with more than 90 percent forest cover.
• The Zhiyin culture display area, which interprets the Boya and Zhong Ziqi bosom-friend legend associated with the Caidian area.
• The forest-bathing leisure area and the youth science-education area set out within the scenic area.
