About Mount Mingyue
Yungu Waterfall is a distinctive lower-mountain feature, while Moon Lake and the Qingyun cliff walkway introduce the upper plateau. These are different elevations with different access demands. Choose between a waterfall-focused walk and an upper-mountain visit, or allow for the connecting transport and ascent if combining them.
The mountain range covers 136 square kilometres along the boundary between Yuanzhou District (袁州区) in Yichun and Anfu County (安福县) in Ji'an. It forms a branch of the Wugong Mountains (武功山), comprising a group of more than ten peaks that rise above 1,000 metres in elevation. These include Taiping Mountain (太平山), Yujing Mountain (玉京山), Laoshan (老山) and Yangshan (仰山). Taiping is the main peak, reaching an elevation of 1,735.6 metres. The name Mingyue refers to the overall shape of the range: its semicircular outline resembles the shape of a half moon.
