About Ayi River
Qinglong Valley is the place to focus on the rock walls and vegetation from a walkway; Longyin Cave and Qinglong Waterfall add specific features to that section. Niujiao Stockade introduces Miao cultural scenery farther within the attraction. A canyon walk and a rafting trip are separate choices here, so select the route that fits the day's river conditions and available services.
The Ayi River was renamed from the Changxi River (长溪河). It rises in Fenshui town (分水镇), Wuchuan County, in neighbouring Guizhou province, and flows through Changqiba (长旗坝), Zhouzituo (舟子沱) and Sanjiangkou (三江口) before joining the Wujiang River. Its total length is 21 kilometres, with a river section of nearly 35 kilometres.
The river basin is home to several nationally protected animal species, including the black leaf monkey (黑叶猴), the leopard and the Zangyouhou (藏猷猴), and supports 95 animal species, 63 bird species and 169 plant species in total. Rare plants recorded in the basin include Zhonghuawenmu (中华纹母) and the Chinese yew (红豆杉).
What to look for
- Qinglong Valley: a cliff-side walkway follows the enclosed canyon, with Qinglong Waterfall among the named features.
- Longyin Cave: the cave is part of the Qinglong Valley landscape, adding an underground section to the cliff-and-water scenery.
Location & getting there
Getting to Ayi River
Use the scenic area's registered address: No. 500, Group 6, Ayi River Community, Shaoqing Subdistrict, Pengshui. This identifies the attraction outside the county-town centre.
- At the visitor service point, choose the Qinglong Valley walking route or ask about the separate rafting arrangements; do not treat every river activity as part of one pedestrian circuit.
Combine your visit
Suggested sequence for this visit:
-
Qinglong Valley walkway
Start with the canyon walls and the vegetation along the maintained path.
-
Longyin Cave
Include the named cave if that section is open on the day's walking route.
-
Qinglong Waterfall
Use the waterfall as the water-and-cliff focus of the valley visit.
These are features within the Qinglong Valley section, not a promised through-route. Ask the visitor centre for the day's permitted order and keep rafting as a separately arranged activity.
