About Dayugou Scenic Area

The scenic area covers 105,214.6 hectares and lies within the Taohe national nature reserve; the Dayugou, a tributary of the Taohe river system, runs north to south through its whole 70 km length. Its core is Zhaikega, the main peak of the Dieshan range at 4,920 m, and the nine fan-shaped tributary gullies give it a vertical ecology that the prefecture government's page sums up as 'four seasons on one mountain, different weather every ten li'. It holds national forest park and provincial geopark designations, and reaches into the two townships of Muer and Nalang, carrying original forest, plateau meadow and wetland landforms. The prefecture page records that Qibu temple and other Tibetan cultural remains, together with Juenai Tibetan folk culture, are preserved there.

Qibu gully and Ajiao gully are among the gullies that have been developed, and the sights within the developed area, which a China Gansu Net report describes as thickly scattered, include Yixiantian, Sanjiaoshi, Yangzhuo lake and the Moon Gate, with the report also naming Qibulinka, the Guanyin Pavilion and the Yuanyang Pavilion. The same report records that Zhuoni county's party committee and government intend during the 14th Five-Year Plan period to build Dayugou into a national 5A-grade tourist attraction; that is a stated plan, not a designation the scenic area holds.
