About Yangba Ecological Scenic Area

The page describes the area's ecology, cultural features and wild produce as together making Yangba a veritable south of the Yangtze in Longnan, and singles out old-growth forest covering two-thirds of southern Kang County, the Yangba tea gardens and Meiyuan Gully as its representative features. It records that the area was designated a provincial nature scenic protection area in 2002, and repeats two bynames for it, Gansu's Xishuangbanna and the home of world-famous tea; both are the page's own wording rather than a designation.

The Yangba subtropical ecological tourism scenic area, it says, lies at only 500 m above sea level, with Hanzhong to the east and Guangyuan close to the south, forest to the west and the Yanzhi River to the north. The page describes a valley basin at the southern edge of Kang County in which palms stand over bamboo groves and green tea gardens are set among banana, gardenia and loquat.

Among its named features the page lists more than ten, including the rippling Yueda Pool, the broad Swan Lake, the Haitang Valley waterfall that cuts through rock, and river flats it calls calm as the sea. The Yangba Meiyuan waterfall group lies at Zhuangke village in Meiyuan Gully and is described as a comparatively rare recent discovery in the province; the Meiyuan and Yangtai waterfalls, it says, lie deep in the gully's old-growth forest, between five and seven metres wide and 50 m and 100 m high respectively, with a third waterfall in Taoyuan Gully called the Taoyuan waterfall. The page gives no opening arrangements, ticket information or scenic-area grade, and states no management body; its list of more than ten features ends in 等 and is not exhaustive.
