About Jian River and Tianmen Mountain

The Hechi municipal portal places the Jianjiang scenic area around Jianjiang in Huaiqun town, 35 kilometres from the Luocheng county town, and names Tianmen, Shenjianshan, Xiucai Kanbang and Kongque Kaiping among its features. Tianmen itself stands at Yuanmeng hamlet in the west of Huaiqun town, about four kilometres from the town: the Luocheng county government gives the opening as 80 metres high, more than 40 metres wide and more than 100 metres long, with rock faces worn smooth. The Yuanmeng River flows through beneath it, the bamboo along the banks reflected in the water, and the arched roof is hung with stalactites; the water below is described as reflecting the stalactites above, the maples in front of the rock and the bamboo on the bank. The Tianmen scenic area was rated an autonomous-region three-star rural tourism area in 2014.

Shenjianshan, which the municipal account calls one of the typical features of the Jianjiang area, is also known as Wuzhishan: its five peaks run from south-west to north-east, spaced apart at first and then close together, in the shape of a hand. The crescent dam, also called Yueyawan, was begun in the 1970s and is described as still solid after decades of scouring. It was built to an arc plan with enlarged abutments at each end, a form that transfers the water's pressure into the foundations on both banks, and the municipal account presents it as a man-made feature demonstrating Mulao engineering sense.
