About Pingliangtai Ancient City Ruins
Rammed-earth walls enclosed a roughly square space, with gates, house platforms and an organised drainage system. The fitted pottery pipes are especially revealing: they carried water through and beyond the walls, showing that everyday maintenance was central to the settlement’s design. Much of that story comes from excavation and interpretation, so this is an archaeological landscape rather than a standing ancient town.
What to look for
- The square enclosure and gateway layout documented by the excavations.
- The pottery-pipe drainage system, explained through the site’s archaeological interpretation.
