About Xuandi Temple
Its worship of Zhenwu developed in association with hopes of protection from the fires that troubled the historical town. The present complex was rebuilt from 2006 after the earlier temple's destruction. A reconstructed suspended-beam and hanging-column arrangement recalls one of the site's best-known architectural curiosities, while the principal worship hall keeps the visit anchored in an active Daoist religious setting.
What to look for
- The principal Zhenwu worship hall within the reconstructed temple complex.
- The restored suspended-beam and hanging-column feature associated with the historical temple.
The surrounding area
A different city from Changchun, with a Songhua riverfront and weather-dependent winter rime.
