About Western Xia Museum
Architectural tiles, ceramics, coins and religious sculptures help reconstruct a culture whose writing and material remains differ from those of its neighbours. Models and reconstructed scenes explain how the imperial tombs were arranged. The present museum opened in 2019 east of the tomb landscape; it is a separate visitor stop from the burial mounds themselves.
What to look for
- Architectural pieces and ceramics reveal the material culture of Western Xia.
- Tomb models explain features that can be difficult to read in the outdoor ruins.
